Phthalates are phthalic acid esters. Compounds have 3-13 carbons and many different phthalates are available. They are highly carcinogenic, harm hormones in humans and animals. They also cause asthma, liver, kidney, and reproductive system disorders.
There is a lot of plastic on earth. The appliance needs to be softened. Plasticss are softened its hard structure by adding Phthalates. They allow long polyvinyl molecules to slide over each other. That's why phthalates are called "plasticizers".
Phthalates are widely available in our home, car, school and even hospitals. Perhaps they cannot be removed by evaporation and migration methods.
They are preferred in outdoor products (Like rain boots and shoes) because they provide the durability of the plastic flexiblity during the immediate heat decreasing.
The European Union Commission published the 2018/2005 regulation in the official gazette of the European Union (EU). According to the Annex 7 (EC) No1907 / 2006 regulation of REACH, the number of banned phthalates has increased.
The number of banned phthalates, which was 3 before, is 4 now.
